Children learning in a Tanzanian classroom

About Nourish Tanzania

A registered Canadian charity building a bridge of hope between Newfoundland and Tanzania.

Our Story

From a Small Town, a Big Mission

Nourish Tanzania was born from a simple but powerful belief: that no child should have to choose between going to school and getting a meal. Founded in the tight-knit community of Pilley's Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, our organization has grown from a grassroots initiative into a registered Canadian charity making a real difference in Tanzania, Africa.

What began as a small group of dedicated individuals concerned about child hunger in East Africa has evolved into an established organization with ongoing programs that serve hundreds of children every week. Our volunteers and supporters span from the shores of Newfoundland to the communities of rural Tanzania.

As a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA #791982309RR0001), we operate with full transparency and accountability, ensuring that every dollar donated goes toward our mission of feeding and nurturing Tanzanian children.

Our Dedicated Local Team

At the heart of Nourish Tanzania's operations are our three dedicated local employees in Tanzania. These individuals are the backbone of our feeding program, managing every aspect of daily meal preparation and distribution.

Our team members are trusted members of their local community who bring invaluable knowledge of local cuisine, cultural traditions, and the specific nutritional needs of the children we serve. By employing local staff, we not only ensure our programs are culturally appropriate and sustainable but also contribute to the local economy.

  • Three full-time staff members employed on the ground
